Temujin

My parents named me Brendan Temujin Knapp. People are surprised and curious to wonder what Temujin means. The answer only adds to the surprise and curiosity. Basically my dad was reading this book…

ghengis khan

…when I was forming in my mother’s womb (yes, this exact book). Mom got to pick my first name. Dad got to pick my middle name. He went with Temujin, which is Genghis Khan’s real name. Yep. The Mongolian warlord. I consider myself a warrior in the confines of a field/court, be it soccer or basketball, but the pillaging he’s infamous for really doesn’t fit. At least not in this life. Fascinating read, though. Give it a shot.
